The Library
The library makes up the largest portion of the Ahmad Shah Massoud Library & Culture Centre.
It honours Ahmad Shah Massoud's love for reading and literature and wants to encourage all levels of the literate society to improve their reading skills as well as provide a peacful space to further their knowledge.
It will be a library for all ages, covering various areas of interest, in various languages. By providing a large varity of subjects the library encourages all levels of society to visit. Languages covered will be Persian and Dari, Pashto (local languages only as much as obtainable), Urdu, English, French and Arabic.
Students of the Adult School will find a special section here which provides simple reading material for adult literacy students.
The library features further several study rooms where students can do their homework, group work and research.
The library will be fitted with wireless internet access and the study rooms feature power supply for prolonged usage of laptops.
As it is designed as a reference library only, aside from the book-shelf area the library will also feature a sofa- and reading area.
The library further contains a multi-media room with several computers. Here patrons can borrow media to view, such as DVDs, CD ROMs and more.
The entire library as well as the rest of the building will also serve as exhibition space for local artists to display sculptures, paintings or other works of art.
