Ahmad Shah Massoud

We are a group of people based in Kabul, Afghanistan, interested in maintaining the memory of Ahmad Shah Massoud for the current and future generations of Afghans. Our motivations are purely non-profit and are simply driven by the desire to up-keep the memory of Ahmad Shah Massoud whom we consider among the greatest sons of Afghanistan.
We are an association registered in line with Afghan laws (see our statute here) and we are independent. At the same time we welcome any calls for cooperation from like-minded individuals or organizations under the management of the Ahmad Shah Massoud Library Centre.
We are not part of the Massoud Foundation, work independently from them and have our own management and finances.

This website currently fulfils the sole purpose of world-wide fundraising for the Ahmad Shah Massoud Library Centre, which we want to establish and run in Kabul and other Afghan cities. With this institution we wish to honour the person, life and struggle of Ahmad Shah Massoud. Please find a summary of his life here. This project represents part of his vision for Afghanistan which he wished to be an educated, peaceful and prosperous country. The Library is to represent the values and ambitions Ahmad Shah Massoud stood for. With it we want to commemorate “the man behind the legend”.

This is not an institution about Ahmad Shah Massoud but one to represent some of his values and ideas in the areas of:

Education
Cultural expression
Cultural tolerance and appreciation
Women’s rights

Once the project is completed the website will serve as the Library’s home page to post its activities.

The Library Centre is governed by the Ahmad Shah Massoud Library Association.
